Certified Fire Investigation Instructor (CFII)
Certified Fire Investigation Instructor – CFII
The CFII course is offered several times a year as a one-day, eight (8) hour course in conjunction with NAFI sponsored training programs. The one day course is intended to provide the participant with basic skills that are essential if the CFEI will be providing training and education programs to other investigators, public education programs to a variety of audiences, or presenting information to others that do not have a technical background in fire and explosion investigation.
Course Topics:
• Theory and Methods of Learning
• Curriculum and Lesson Plan Development
• Instructional Techniques
• Planning and Preparation of Demonstration Burns
CFII certification is a three part process:
1. Credentials Review based on the completion of the CFII application
2. Attendance at a NAFI Sponsored CFII course
AND
3. Successful completion of the CFII exam.
CFII’s are required to maintain both their membership in NAFI and CFEI status.
The CFII Application Process
Prerequisites: CFII Candidates must be a member in good standing of NAFI and hold NAFI CFEI Certification. An exception can be made for those CFII candidates attending a CFII course offered as a Pre-Program course who will also be sitting for the CFEI exam later at the same NAFI sponsored program. Upon successful completion of the CFEI exam at that training program both the CFEI and CFII credentials will be awarded. Should the candidate fail the CFEI exam – no credentials will be issued.
CFII candidates should read the entire CFII Guidelines and Application Packet carefully. It includes detailed instructions for the application and examination process. Fully complete each section of the application exactly as instructed. Submit your original application via mail or express courier. We cannot accept these materials in separate shipments or via fax, telephone or email. Application fees are included in the cost of the course.
Applications that are deemed to be incomplete will not be processed and will be returned to the applicant. Applicants must then resubmit the entire application for consideration.
Please note that application processing can take between 1 and 6 weeks depending on the volume of applications to the Membership Services Office.
The CFII Certification Process
The CFII Exam is administered only at selected official NAFI sponsored training programs. This certification CANNOT be obtained by resume review or by proctored examination.
