The 14th Vehicle Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigation Science and Technology Seminar is designed to meet the training requirements for the Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator Certification Program established by the International Certification Board. The investigation of fires and explosions in motor vehicles is a specialized aspect of fire investigation requiring specific knowledge and expertise. Our panel of NAFI instructors will present illustrated lectures covering such topics as:

This program’s focus is on proper investigation techniques for motor vehicles as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Fires chapter of NFPA 921 - Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations.


Electronic Seminar Handouts

This year's program is Organized by Investigations Institute and Sponsored by NAFI.


CFEI and CVFI Examinations

The CFEI examination will be offered on September 16, 2025 in conjunction with this NAFI sponsored training program. In order to take the examination, the applicant must be a member of NAFI and should submit a completed CFEI application to the NAFI office. Every applicant must meet the requirements of the National Certification Board and must pay an additional $75.00* fee. (This is a $50 discount off the regular fee).

The CVFI examination will be offered on September 18, 2025. In order to take the examination, the applicant must be a member of NAFI and a CFEI and should submit a completed CVFI application to the NAFI office. Every applicant must meet the requirements of the National Certification Board and must pay an additional $75.00* fee.

Registrants may sit for both exams at the training program.

1 PM - 5 PM Burned Vehicle Examinations

Conference Details

This year's training program will be held at the Hilton Lexington. All field day activities will be held at the Jessamie County Fire Department Training Grounds. Transportation will be provided to and from the training grounds.

All invoices are due upon receipt. Prepaid fees are fully refundable until August 17, 2025; thereafter, individual registrants may be substituted, but refunds will not be made. Your registration is NOT a reservation but a commitment to attend and pay for the Training Program. Registrants who carry a balance due may have their registration canceled if we go on a Waiting List after being sold out.

Special room rates of $155.00 per night (single or double) have been arranged at the Hilton Lexington. This rate is on a first come basis and the hotel will likely sell out. The special room rate is available until August 17, 2025, or until sold out, whichever comes first.
